Five members of UKPS (Dr Rachel Crossland, Ms Kimberly Schell, Mr Steven Bolton, Dr Aisling Flinn and Prof. Andrew Gennery, Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Newcastle University) have recently had a new ECP review article accepted for publication in Frontiers in Immunology.
This work brought together 12 research groups and clinical centres across Europe, to address “extracorporeal photopheresis as an immunomodulatory treatment modality for chronic GvHD, and the importance of emerging biomarkers”.
The paper systematically discusses technical aspects and response to ECP, reviews ECP as an immunomodulatory treatment modality for chronic GvHD (including the effect on regulatory T cells and circulating vs. tissue-resident immune cells), and considers the importance of emerging biomarkers for ECP response. It was coordinated via the COST Programme Action EUROGRAFT and is available as an open access article.
The review is a fantastic example of successful collaboration, reflecting the enthusiasm of all involved and hopes to serve as a helpful resource for those entering the field of ECP.
