Meet the Member: Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust
Tracy Maher is a specialist nurse practitioner at Rotherham Photopheresis Unit, where she has worked since 2006. Before that, she specialised in acute adult medicine and then adult haematology. Tracy has worked for the NHS for over 40 years and nursing has been her personal professional achievement!
The Rotherham Photopheresis Unit treats adults with GvHD, CTCL and scleroderma. They have also treated single patients with eczema and Crohn’s disease. Rotherham was the first unit to treat children with ECP and then develop an outreach service, both of which are a passion of Tracy’s. With the Rotherham ECP team, Tracy has assisted in setting up a paediatric ECP unit in both Belfast and Birmingham Children’s hospital, and also assisted in developing a paediatric outreach service at Leeds general infirmary. The team have delivered outreach to adult and paediatrics in sheffield and leeds for over 10 years, and Rotherham ECP has been active since 1996.
Tracy enjoys networking with other centres and learning how their service differs, so that the Rotherham team can continually develop their service and deliver the best possible treatment for patients.
