UKPS attendance at MOVE Symposium 2023

From 24 – 27th October, UKPS members Dr Rachel Crossland and Ms Kimberly Schell, Newcastle University, attended the first MObility for Vesicles research in Europe (MOVE) symposium, held in sunny Malaga, Spain. The MOVE consortium represents an active network of European National Extracellular Vesicle Societies (NEVS), with an overarching aim to encourage communication between the societies and promote EV research and understanding across Europe.

Not only was the meeting a fantastic opportunity to network with EV colleagues and hear the latest research, but Rachel and Kimberly also had their work selected for presentation during the session on “Therapeutic Opportunities of EVs”. Kimberly kicked off the programme with her presentation on “Serum Extracellular Vesicle miRNA Profiling to determine Extracorporeal Photopheresis Response in Graft versus Host Disease”, where she presented the latest results of the Newcastle study assessing serum extracellular vesicles as biomarkers for ECP response, as well as their mechanism of action during ECP therapy. The presentation was very well received, and Kimberly had the opportunity to address some insightful questions after her talk. After a wonderful four days, attendees enjoyed a final networking dinner at Banos del Carmen, overlooking the Alboran Sea.

This work was supported by the UK Photopheresis Society, as well as the Pathological Society of Great Britain, Therakos and Newcastle Hospitals Charity.
